Privacy
What this site collects, and where it goes.
Short version: nothing is collected unless you type it into the enquiry form and press send. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, and nothing that follows you between visits.
Who is responsible
Mochip Labs, [POSTAL ADDRESS], is the agency responsible for personal information collected through this site, and handles it under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. For anything on this page, or to have your details removed, email hello@mochiplabs.com.
The enquiry form
When you submit the form at the bottom of the home page, we receive:
- Your email address, which is required so we can reply
- Your company name and weekly order volume, if you chose to fill them in — both optional
- The figures you entered into the model, but only if you pressed “Send these figures with my enquiry” on the results panel. If you did not press it, nothing you typed into the model ever leaves your browser.
We use this to reply to your enquiry and to follow up about Mochip OS. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.
The message reaches our inbox through FormSubmit, a third-party form relay, so that this site needs no server of its own. Your submission passes through their systems on the way to us, and may be processed outside New Zealand. Our site and the film it plays are served by Cloudflare, whose network spans many countries.
We keep enquiry emails for as long as we are in contact with you about it, and for 12 months afterwards. Ask us and we will delete yours sooner.
The model calculator
Every number in the model is arithmetic performed in your browser on the figures you type. Nothing is sent anywhere, nothing is stored, and reloading the page clears it — unless you explicitly attach the figures to an enquiry, as described above.
Measurement
This site carries an optional measurement feature that is currently switched off and collects nothing. If we turn it on, it will record only which phase of the film a visit reached and whether the model was interacted with — never the contents of any field, never your email, and never the figures you entered. It sets no cookies and no cross-visit identifier, and it honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals automatically.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies. It stores two things in your own browser, neither of which is sent to us or to anyone else:
- A flag remembering that the keyboard-shortcut hint has been shown, so it is not shown again
- If measurement is ever enabled, a random session identifier that is discarded when you close the tab
Other services
Fonts and images are served from this domain rather than a third-party CDN, so loading the page does not announce your visit to anyone else. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and the film is served from Cloudflare R2, both operated by Cloudflare, Inc.; as our hosting provider they process server logs that include IP addresses.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. We will also delete it on request — that is our policy, not merely the minimum. Email hello@mochiplabs.com and we will respond within 20 working days, which is the limit the Act sets us.
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
If you are contacting us from the UK or the EU, the GDPR may also give you rights over this information. We will honour a request made on that basis in the same way and to the same timeframe.
